Extra Vascular Lung Water and Pulmonary Permeability in Critically Ill Patients With SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a newly recognized illness that has spread rapidly throughout Wuhan (Hubei province) to other provinces in China and around the world. Most critically ill patients with SARS-CoV-2 will present the criteria for the definition of ARDS. However, many of these patients have …

Epidemiological Study of the Microbiota in Critically Ill Children (n=100) From 1 to 16 Years Compared With Healthy Controls (n=50) and Its Relationship With Clinical Complications and Inflammatory Biomarkers

Objectives: To study the composition of the microbiota in critically ill children, and to know the relationship of its microbiota with clinical complications and inflammation biomarkers. Design: Multicenter observational and prospective study including 100 critically ill children admitted in three pediatric intensive care units with a prediction of more than …

Comparing the PiCCO Monitor to the Non-invasive Biobeat (BB)-316PW in ICU Patients

The aim of this study is to compare hemodynamic monitoring using the invasive PiCCO device to the BB-613PW wireless, non-invasive PPG-based device, in critically ill patients within the ICU, suffering from hemodynamic instability and in need of vasopressor support. Data will be gathered prospectively and analysed retrospectively.

Outcome of Patients Treated With ECLS

Extracorporeal life support (ECLS), also called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), is an extracorporeal technique of providing effective circulatory and (or) respiratory failure, with a growing number of critically ill patients benefit from it. The aim of this study is to investigate the outcome of patients treated With ECMO, and to …

Characteristics and Outcomes of Patients With COVID-19 Admitted to the ICU

The main objective is to describe the characteristics of critically ill patients with COVID-19 and their clinical outcomes, and to identify risk factors associated with survival, to inform clinical decision-making and to guide the strategy to mitigate the epidemic, both within each hospital and ICU and in public health management.

One-Year Quality of Life and Functional Prognosis of COVID-19 Patients in Post-ICU Setting

Respiratory failure is the main reason for admission in ICU of these patients. Therapeutic strategies implemented for the management of critically-ill patients may often lead to short-term muscular and functional alterations resulting in ICU-Acquired Weakness (ICUAW). These lead to long-term disabilities expressing trough dependence and quality of life impairment of …

Microbiota in COVID-19 Patients for Future Therapeutic and Preventive Approaches

The overarching aim of the present research proposal is to improve therapeutic strategies in critically ill patients with ARDS due to SARS-CoV-2 infection by advancing the pathophysiological understanding of this novel disease. This research thus focuses on inflammation, microcirculatory dysfunction and superinfection, aiming to elucidate risk factors (RF) for the …

COVID-19 Follow up Intensive Care Studies

Since the SARS-CoV-2 infection is relatively new, the long term attributable burden related to COVID19 has not been investigated yet. To date, in patients with COVID-19 and their family members, there is little information on the functional status, cognitive ability, pattern of return to work, and health related quality of …
